Abbi: “your eyes are cool”

Mac: “that’s funny because i think your eyes are cool too”

Who knew these two messages sent over the internet on September 2nd, 2021 would change the course of history.

Mac and Abbi first connected online, bonding over quick banter and a shared love for the then-new Baby Keem album, The Melodic Blue. They texted each other songs daily, tracks Abbi thoughtfully compiled into a playlist they still listen to today. It wasn’t until their first official date that they realized why dating between the San Fernando Valley and West Los Angeles was considered to be “long distance.”

A 13 Los Angeles mile commute (over 30 minutes, one way) couldn’t stand between them, and with over 6,324 miles driven between the two’s homes, Mac and Abbi surely knew if LA traffic couldn’t stand between them, nothing could.

Their relationship blossomed over the following months, never without a quirky moment. One of their first dates was at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. on the Santa Monica Pier, just because it was there. They have a glass in their home to commemorate the occasion. On their first Valentine’s Day as a couple, they went out for a lovely Italian dinner. About halfway through their entrées, they realized that “Gloria” by Laura Branigan had been playing on a loop all night long in the restaurant.

A few family trips, weekend getaways, birthdays, holidays, and a seemingly everlasting honeymoon phase later, Mac and Abbi decided it was time to take the next step in their relationship: moving in together. Did they find a quaint one-bedroom apartment in Los Angeles where they lived? But of course not! They decided to move halfway across the country to a place they daydreamed of living: Nashville, Tennessee, where they both could be closer to family.

After a year, they decided to add a family member of their own, a little weiner dog named Montana. Montana has served as a test of discipline, shared responsibility, and love between the two. He is basically their entire world.

On September 20th, 2025, Mac proposed to Abbi in an old MCM home in the Smoky mountains, built by renowned Knoxville architect Bruce McCarty. Abbi said yes to his proposal, which brings us here today.
